Randallstown Islamic Center (Dawah Center)
Randallstown Islamic Center (RIC), known originally as Dawah Society, was founded in Baltimore, Maryland USA by a group of Muslim families in early 2000. A residential building on 8335 Liberty Road, Randallstown was used as the society’s first Masjid. By 2003, membership of the masjid has increased tremendously which facilitated the group to rent a larger space at 1808 Woodlawn Drive, Gwynn Oak, MD 21207. At this location, full-fledge Masjid services were provided including 5 daily prayers, Friday Jumaat Prayers, Tarawih prayers, and Sunday lecture sessions.
In the next few years, membership at the mosque continued to grow steadily and the group needed a larger space that will accommodate all members and nonmembers who visit the mosques for Friday prayers and Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan. To accommodate the growth, the group in the year 2009 rented a larger property at 9019 Marcella Avenue, Randallstown MD. 21133. As a result of the ample space at this location, the weekend religious school was started, and Eid prayers were performed. The group then formed a non-profit 501c(3) organization incorporated in 2010 and named it Randallstown Islamic Center(RIC) (Dawah Society) to reflect the current location of the group.
At the beginning of 2015, RIC membership was over 500 and a decision was made to purchase 3117 Rices Lane, Windsor Mill, MD 21244 to accommodate the growing needs of increasing membership. In April 2015, the purchase of the 20.04 acres property was completed. Three years later, RIC was able to complete all requirements to convert the property zoning from residential to commercial as requested by Baltimore County regulation.
RIC’s mission is to provide a place of worship, an Islamic environment for individuals and families, authentic Islamic education, da’wah programs for promoting understanding and propagation of Islam, and a source of reference and a support system for the community. The goal is to develop, promote and implement the mission’s objectives within RIC resources.
RIC provides Islamic services including the 5 Daily Prayers, Friday (Jumu’ah) prayer, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Adha Prayers, Taraweeh prayers during the month of Ramadan, Weekend Quran school for children, Sunday lectures for adults, Daily Tafseer Program for Adults, Collection and Distribution of Zakat, Funeral and Burial Arrangements, Marriages and Aqiqah, and many other Islamic programs.
RIC draws membership from nationals of African, Asian, and Mid-Eastern Countries; we strive to be a welcoming place for everyone. Members and non-members are invited to use the facility for their social, educational, and spiritual needs. Everyone is also welcome to contribute positively to strengthen our contribution to the teaching and practice of Islam.
